Monastery of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites
Monastery of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites was built in the years
1897-1899. There is Father Raphael's cell in the monastery which is
accessible to visit.
Monastery of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites was built in the years
1897-1899 and the church is of St. Josef. One of the builder and prior of
the monastery was Father Raphael Kalinowski.
He took part in the January Insurrection in 1863 and was convicted to ten
years of hard
labour in Siberia. He was canonized by the Pope John Paul II on 17.11.1991.
There is Father Raphael's cell in the monastery which is accessible to
visit.
Next to the monastery there is St. Josef statue erected in 1900 by
inhabitants of Wadowice as a "monument of appreciation towards God and St.
Josef for building the Monastery".
There is also St. Raphael monument with the inscription: "St. Raphael
Kalinowski prays for us".
JOHN PAUL II GIVES HIS RING AS A GIFT FOR THE PAINTING OF ST JOSEPH IN THE CHURCH OF THE DISCALCED CARMELITES IN WADOWICE, POLAND
His Holiness Pope John Paul II has given his papal ring to decorate St Josephs painting at our Priory in Wadowice, his birthplace. The decoration of the painting will take place on the 19th March 2004, during the Eucharist, presided by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski, Archbishop of Cracow, together with other Polish Bishops and representatives of the Order. The ceremony will be preceded by a novena. The event has created a great deal of interest throughout Poland, including the mass media.
The following is the text of the Papal Bull of His Holiness:
Ad perpetuam rei memoriam!
AInspired by the Gospel, the Fathers of the Church from the first centuries underlined that St Joseph, who had lovingly looked after Mary and dedicated himself to the joyful task of educating Jesus Christ, also looks after and protects the Church, the mystical Body of Christ, of which Mary is both exemplar and model@ (Redemptoris Custos, 1).
In the city where I was born St Joseph, the second Patron Saint of my Baptism, bestowed his protection on the People of God in the Discalced Carmelite Church, Aon the hill@, where his painting is venerated above the high altar.
Thanks to this tireless defender of Christ, and inspired by the example of my predecessor, John XXIII, who in the year of the inauguration of the Second Vatican Council, offered his papal ring to decorate the hand of St Joseph in Kalisz cathedral (cfr. Kronika Diecezji Wloclawaskiej, 1963, N 3-4, pp. 66-77), I offer the papal ring, in the twenty fifth year of my Pontificate, for a similar decoration of the painting of him who nourished the Son of God, venerated in the Carmelite Church, Wadowicese. I consign this gift to the Fr. Provincial, Szczepan T. Praskiewicz OCD.
May this ring, symbol of married love, which will be placed on the hand of St Joseph in the painting at Wadowice, remind his devotees, that the Head of the Holy Family is A that just "man of Nazareth (who) possesses the clear characteristics of a husband...and remained faithful to Gods call until the end...and received the same love, through whose power the Eternal Father >has predestined us to be His adopted children through Jesus Christ (Redemptoris Custos).
I would like to thank the Discalced Carmelites, faithful guardians of their Church in Wadowice, for all that I received since my childhood from the Carmelite School of spirituality. Following the example of their Holy Mother, Teresa of Jesus, may they contemplate St Joseph as the perfect model of intimacy with Jesus and Mary, Patron of interior prayer and untiring service to his brothers and sisters (cfr. Life 6,6-8. 32,12).
May St Joseph obtain for the Church and the world, and for each one of us, the blessing of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

St. Josef - Sanktuarium - Kloster der Unbeschuhten Karmeliten

eoromanische St. Josef- Kirche wurde in den Jahren 1897 - 1899 errichtet.
Einer der Baumeister und zugleich Prior der Karmeliten war der Heilige
Raphael Josef Kalinowski, Aufständischer, nach Sibirien Deportierter, der am
17.XI.1991 vom Papst Johannes Paulus II. kanonisiert wurde.
Im Kloster befindet sich die Klausel von Rafał Kalinowski, die man
besichtigen kann.
Neben dem Kloster befindet sich die Figur des Hl. Josef, die im Jahre 1900
von den Wadowitzer Einwohner als "ein Denkmal aus Dankbarkeit dem Gott und
dem Heiligen Josef für die Errichtung des Klosters" gebaut wurde, und das
Denkmal des Hl. Rafał mit der Sockelaufschrift : "Hl. Rafał Kalinowski bitte
für uns".
Am 19. März 2004 hat der Kardynal Franciszek Macharski auf das Bild des Hl.
Josef den päpstlichen Fischerring des Heiligen Vaters Johannes Paulus II.
aufgesetzt, und das Kloster der Unbeschuhten Karmeliten erlangte den Titel
St. Josef-Sanktuarium
Papst Johannes Paul II schenkt seinen Ring
für das Bild des heiligen Josef in der Kirche der Karmeliten in Wadowice
Seine Heiligkeit, Papst Johannes Paul II übergab unserem Konvent in Wadowice seinen Ring, welcher in das Bild des heiligen Josefs eingesetzt wird. Am 19. März 2004 wird Kard. Franciszek Macharski zusammen mit anderen Bischöfen Polens und Vertretern des Ordens aus diesem Anlass eine Festmesse zelebrieren. Als geistliche Vorbereitung auf das Fest des heiligen Josef wird an neun Mittwochen eine Novene gehalten. Dieses Ereignis erfreute sich in ganz Polen eines regen Interesses und wurde von zahlreichen Medien aufgegriffen.

Zum ewigen Angedenken!
?In Anlehnung an das Evangelium haben schon die Kirchenväter der ersten Jahrhunderte hervorgehoben, dass der hl. Josef so, wie er für Maria liebevoll Sorge trug und sich voll Freude und Eifer der Erziehung Jesu Christi widmete, seinen mystischen Leib, die Kirche, deren Gestalt und Vorbild die heilige Jungfrau ist, behütet und beschützt.?(Redemptoris Custos, 1).
In meiner Geburtsstadt breitet der heilige Josef - mein zweiter Taufpatron - von der Kirche der Karmeliten aus - die sich ?auf dem Hügel? befindet und in der ihm zu Ehren der Hauptaltar geweiht ist - seinen Schutz auf das Volk Gottes aus. In Dankbarkeit gegenüber dem tapferen Verteidiger Christi möchte ich dem Beispiel meines Vorgängers, dem seligen Papst Johannes XXIII folgend, der im Jahr der Eröffnung des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils seinen ?Fischerring? als Schmuck der Hand des heiligen Josefs in der Kathedrale von Kalisz geschenkt hatte, auch ich anlässlich meines 25. Pontifikatsjubiläums meinen Ring dem Bild Dessen übergeben, der den Sohn Gottes nährte und welches sich in der Karmelitenkirche in Wadowice befindet. Ich übergebe diesen Ring Provinzial, P. Sczepan T. Praskiewicz OCD.
Möge dieser Ring - Zeichen bräutlicher Liebe - welcher auf die Hand des Bildes des heiligen Josefs in Wadowice angesteckt wird, all seine Verehrer daran erinnern, dass das Haupt der ehrwürdigen Familie ?der ?gerechte Mann? aus Nazaret [ist, der] vor allem die klaren Wesensmerkmale des Ehemannes besitzt (...) ehe ?das Geheimnis, das von Ewigkeit an in Gott verborgen war? (Eph 3,9), Wirklichkeit zu werden beginnt.? (Redemptoris Custos, 1, 17-18).
Den Unbeschuhten Karmeliten, die sich als treue Diener der Kirche von Wadowice erwiesen haben, möge dieser Ring als Ausdruck meiner Dankbarkeit gelten für all das, was ich seit meiner eigenen Kindheit aus der Schule der karmelitanischen Spiritualität empfangen habe. Mögen sie selbst, dem Beispiel ihrer heiligen Mutter Teresa von Jesus folgend, auf den heiligen Josef - dem Patron des inneren Gebetes und des unermüdlichen Dienstes an den Brüdern und Schwestern (vgl. Vida, 6,6-8; 32,12) - als vollkommenes Modell ihrer Verbundenheit mit Jesus und Maria schauen.
Der heilige Josef erbitte für die Kirche, die Welt und für jeden einzelnen von uns den Segen des Vaters, des Sohnes und des Heiligen Geistes.

Le Sanctuaire St. Joseph - La Cloître Des Carmes Déchausées,
L'église néoroman, constriute en 1897 - 1899 . Un des constructeurs et le
prieur des carmes a été St. Raphaël Joseph Kalinowski - l'insurgé, canonise
par Jean Paul II le 17 novembre 1991.
Dans la cloître se trouve la cellule de Pere Raphaël qui est possible a
visiter.
A ctôé de la cloître se trouve la figure de St. Joseph et le monument de St.
Raphaël.

pour le tableau de saint Joseph de l?église des Carmes de Wadowice
Sa Sainteté le Pape Jean-Paul II a fait cadeau de son anneau papal ? notre couvent de Wadowice, sa ville natale, pour y orner le tableau de saint Joseph. Cette attribution au tableau se fera le 19 mars 2004, au cours de l?Eucharistie présidée par le Card.Franciszek Macharski, archev?que de Cracovie, en présence de plusieurs év?ques polonais et de quelques représentants de l?Ordre. La célébration sera préparée par une neuvaine, ? partir du mercredi 9. L?év?nement a suscité un grand intéret dans toute la Pologne, o? la nouvelle est diffusée tous ces jours-ci par les divers moyens de communication.
Nous publions le texte de la Bulle de S.Sainteté:

?D?s les premiers si?cles de notre ?re, les P?res de l?Eglise, s?inspirant de l?Evangile, ont fait remarquer comment S.Joseph, tout en accompagnant la Vierge Marie de son affection, s?est consacré joyeusement ? l?éducation de Jésus-Christ. Avec le m?me soin, il garde et prot?ge aujourd?hui le Corps Mystique qui est l?Eglise, et dont la Vierge Sainte est la figure et le mod?le (Redemptoris Custos,1).
Dans ma ville natale, S.Joseph, mon second Patron de Bapt?me, étend sa protection sur le Peuple de Dieu, ? partir de l?église des Carmes ?sur la colline?, o? il est spécialement vénéré au rétable du maître-autel.
Désireux d?exprimer ma reconnaissance au gardien de Jésus pour sa protection, et m?inspirant du geste de mon prédécesseur le Bx Jean XIII qui, ? l?occasion de l?ouverture du Concile Vatican II, voulut offrir son anneau papal pour le mettre ? la main de S.Joseph de la cathédrale de Kalisz (cf Kronica Diecezii Wloclawskiej, 1963, n.3-4, p.66-67), j?offre ? mon tour, en cette année du 25?me anniversaire de mon pontificat, mon propre anneau papal, dans l?intention d?honorer le tableau de Celui qui prit jadis en charge le Fils de Dieu, et qui est aujourd?hui vénéré dans l?église des Carmes de Wadowice. Les P?res Carmes, fid?les gardiens de l?église de Wadowice, tout en acceptant mon geste de gratitude pour tout ce que, depuis ma premi?re enfance, j?ai reçu de l?école carmélitaine de spiritualité, voudront toujours, suivant l?exemple de leur M?re Ste Thér?se de Jésus, contempler en S.Joseph le mod?le parfait de l?intimité avec Jésus et Marie, le maître de la pri?re profonde et du service infatigable ? tous nos fr?res (cf. Santuario di San Giuseppe - Convento dei Frati Carmelitani Scalzi

hiesa neoromanica, eretta negli anni 1897 - 1899 intitolata a San Giuseppe.
Uno dei costruttori del convento e priore dei Frati Carmelitani fu San
Rafał Józef Kalinowski, insorto, deportato in Siberia, canonizzato da
Giovanni Paolo II il 17.XI.1991.
Nel convento si trova la cella monastica di Padre Rafał che si puo'
visitare.
Accanto al convento monumento a San Giuseppe eretto nel 1900 dagli abitanti
di Wadowice come "monumento di gratitudine a Dio ed a San Giuseppe per l'
erezione del convento" e il monumento di San Rafał con l'iscrizione sullo
zoccolo: "San Rafał Kalinowski prega per noi".
Il 19 marzo 2004 il Cardinale Franciszek Macharski applico' sul quadro di
San Giuseppe l'Anello papale del Pescatore del Santo Padre Giovanni Paolo
II, e la chiesa dei Carmelitani Scalzi assunse il titolo di Santuario di San
Giuseppe.

DI SAN GIUSEPPE NELLA CHIESA DEI CARMELITANI SCALZI A WADOWICE
Sua Santit? Papa Giovanni Paolo II ha regalato al nostro convento di Wadowice, suo paese natale, il suo anello papale per decorare il quadro di San Giuseppe. La decorazione del quadro si far? il 19 marzo 2004, durante l´Eucaristia, presieduta dal card. Franciszek Macharski, arcivescovo di Cracovia, con la presenza di alcuni vescovi polacchi e rappresentanza dell?Ordine. La cerimonia ? preceduta da una novena di 9 mercoled?. L?avvenimento ha suscitato molto interesse in tutta la Polonia e da alcuni giorni la notizia ? divulgata dai mezzi di comunicazione.
Pubblichiamo il testo della Bolla di sua Santit?:

?Ispirandosi al Vangelo, i padri della Chiesa fin dai primi secoli hanno sottolineato che san Giuseppe, come ebbe amorevole cura di Maria e si dedic? con gioioso impegno all'educazione di Ges? Cristo, cos? custodisce e protegge il suo mistico corpo, la Chiesa, di cui la Vergine santa ? figura e modello? (Redemptoris Custos, 1).
Nella mia citt? natale san Giuseppe, il secondo Patrono del mio Battesimo, elargisce la sua protezione sul Popolo di Dio dalla chiesa dei Carmelitani Scalzi ?sulla Collina?, nella quale ? venerato nel quadro dell?altare principale.
Grato al solerte difensore di Cristo per la sua protezione, ispirandomi dal gesto del mio predecessore beato Giovanni XXIII, che nell?anno dell?inaugurazine del Concilio Vaticano II ha offerto il suo anello papale per la decorazine della mano di san Giuseppe nella concattedrale di Kalisz (cfr. Kronika Diecezji Wloclawskiej, 1963, nr 3-4, p. 66-77), offro nell?anno del venticinquesimo del mio Pontificato l?anello papale per una simile decorazione del quadro di Colui che nutriva il Figlio di Dio, venerato nella chiesa carmelitana wadowicese. Consegno questo dono al Padre Provinciale Szczepan T. Pra?kiewicz OCD.
Che questo anello, simbolo dell?amore sponsale, che verr? imposto sulla mano di san Giuseppe nel quadro di Wadowice, ricordi ai suoi cultori, che il Capo dell?Alma Famiglia ? ?l'uomo ?giusto? di Nazaret che possiede soprattutto le chiare caratteristiche dello sposo, il quale rimase fedele sino alla fine alla chiamata di Dio (?) e fu depositario dello stesso amore, per la cui potenza l'eterno Padre ?ci ha predestinati ad essere suoi figli adottivi per opera di Ges? Cristo?? (Redemptoris Custos, 1, 17-18).
E Carmelitani Scalzi, custodi fedeli della chiesa di Wadowice, accettando la mia gratitudine per tutto quello che dalla mia stessa infanzia ricevetti dalla scuola carmelitana di spiritualit?, vogliano sull?esempio della loro santa Madre Teresa di Ges? contemplare in san Giuseppe il modello perfetto dell?intimit? con Ges? e con Maria, Patrono della preghiera interiore e dell?infaticabile servizio ai fratelli (cfr. Vita, 6,6-8; 32,12).
Che san Giuseppe ottenga alla Chiesa ed al mondo, come a ciascuno di noi, la benedizione del Padre e del Figlio e dello Spirito Santo.
